The reason I started preparing for GMAT is because I wanted to do MBA and due to my age and experience executive MBA was the only way.
Here is my career history:
10th : 82%
12th : 78%
BTech. : GPA 6.9
6.5 years of IT experience across various firms.
I would like to apply for Executive MBA programs in Indian IIMs and ISB.
I need guidance regarding what should be the score I should target and what are the things I need to take care of.
Hi Ashwini720
Congratulations on taking the first step towards pursuing an MBA.
First, let me highlight that your thought process that Executive MBA is the only way is not correct. I know several people including classmates during my MBA who even with 10 years of work experience, pursued a regular full-time MBA.
Ultimately the choice boils down to what you want to do with your career going forward and which kind of program will have a better impact for you in achieving your career goals.
In targetting a score, it would be wise to research your target B-Schools and program thoroughly and understand what is the median GMAT of each program and then aim for a +10 or +20 points higher than the median score.
For IIMs and ISB a GMAT Focus score of 665+ is recommended. However, do also note that the MBA admissions process is holistic and the GMAT is just one aspect of your profile which the Adcoms will evaluate.
If you need a detailed profile evaluation with a recommended list of programs and schools that would be a good fit for your profile, consider taking our free profile evaluation from our website once you do have an official GMAT score.
