Hey everybody,
I used posts on this forum countless times in my early planning/studying for the GMAT. Now that I've nearly finished with my original plan, I've returned to ask y'all where I should go from here. I've been studying for the GMAT for about a month now and the test day is quickly approaching (9/10 to be exact). My routine so far has been as follows:
-Bought the
OG (12th edition), took the diagnostic test, & realized my quantitative skills were a bit rusty compared to verbal.
-Given the results of my diagnostic test, I decided the best way for me to study was to go straight through the book in order of the sections given.
-Each day, I would do at least 1 collection of 40 questions as listed in the book (1-40, 41-80, etc. allowing me to do problems in increasing difficulty) all while keeping an excel sheet of my answers, whether they were correct, why I missed any problems, and my time after each 10th question. In other words, I kept the same type of answer spreadsheet/
error log that y'all have endorsed countless times.
-After completing a section (such as Problem Solving), I would move on to the next section in the same study format. However, I would do ~10 problems from each previous section of medium/hard difficulty AND/OR problems I had missed earlier according to my
error log in order to stay sharp on the previous sections.
-I have followed this format all the way through PS, DS, RC, & CR. I still have Sentence Correction and AWA left to study.
I recently took one of the practice tests offered upon registration of the test and scored a 740 (q49, v41). I am pleased with this score at this point in time (especially considering that I haven't completely finished the
OG), but I want to stay sharp and possibly improve my score. Since I am running low on my current study materials outside of the questions posted on this forum (kudos to all that participate btw), I am wondering what I should do next. I plan on taking the second practice test once I complete SC in the
OG in about a day or two, but I don't know where to go after that.
If you've read this far, then thank you. I have gold stars and cookies for you. Sorry for the length, but I tend to err on the side of thoroughness. Any suggestions/comments/questions/funnyjokesyouheardtoday are welcome and appreciated.
More info about my practice test result:
-half of the quant questions I answered incorrectly were due to a time crunch (4 questions with <2 min to go) near the end of the section
-the mistakes made in the verbal section were pretty evenly distributed between RC, CR, & SC
