hi yall
ok first of all i did 1 month of prep not seriously and i still went ahead and got jacked but u know what guys i am not disheartened i am aiming for the magic 700+ but before i share my experiince let me give you some stats and would welcome any advice
Q 44 73%
V 28 52%
600 70%
Well my AWA went of smooth no problem there
Quant 1st Q was a DS and i marked it and then realized it was a mistake and i shud have chosen D instead of B god!! tht ratteled me so i took lot of time fo rthe next 14 Q's and realized i had 30 min left for 17 Q's i did not panic but moved along but just guessed some tht were just plain that did not go into my head!!
ok there was no SD, but Probality was ok lots of these DS with x > y stuff whcih i never got correct.
Verbal was always poor for me so the verbal was just like ETS OG but the SC looked more longer and wordier. RC / CR were ok but by then i had lost hope so i just cruised thorugh ( apparenlty not in the right way!!)
any way i still belive i can tame GMAT the biggest mistake i made was not do suffcient actualt practice tests and not hone on Verbal and in particular SC .
any way i do feel like a loser but not ME but my prepration method was horrible so i am gona give it another go based on my past mistakes.
any suggestins and critique will be much appricated

My first GMAT experience was rough too - I was sick as a dog and got through the AWA well enough (got a 6), but then started mentally and physically going downhill bigtime. I got stumped by a simple algebra question because I couldn't really function, spent way too much time on it, eventually guessed wildly and then saw I had about 1.5 minutes left per question!!! Barely made it through the rest of the test. Result: 570! Naturally, a retake is in order!
If you need help on verbal I would recommend either or both Grammar Smart and Cracking the GMAT. The Grammar Smart book has a pretty good list of English grammar rules; very helpful for SC. The Cracking book has 5 practice tests if you get the one with the CD, and the verbal questions are very realistic, a lot like the real thing.
Hard to keep your composure on a "freak" accident like clicking the wrong button, but prepare better and you'll be calmer all around for the retake.
