Need Help: How to improve SC and How to get Q50.

Hey guys,

I would like to ask for an advice regarding how to improve SC. My appointment will be in 19 days. It is my second attempt after I screwed all the verbal part last month. I bought the e-GMAT verbal online and found that the SC is pretty good especially for a non-native like me. I took GMATprep again today and got 730 Q49 V41. It's not that I'm not happy with the score but I already saw about 20-30% of the questions so it's not so surprised that my score was this high. Anyway I went through all the incorrect answers in verbal part and found out that SC still remains as my weakest part. Of all 9 incorrect answers, 6 were SC. I was kinda disappointed cause I worked hard for the SC session in e-GMAT ( I did well in the e-GMAT quiz but maybe I'm not so good at applying what I know). This time there were 17 SC and I got 6 incorrect. It's not good enough and I'm trying to work out for this. If you guys have any suggestions. please let me know. I will be highly appreciated.  Do you think rereading the MGMAT sentence correction help?

One more thing, I want to improve my quantitative to 50. Right now my range is around 45-49. My last attempt's quantitative was 47. More practices is needed I guess.  Any recommended quant questions bank???   Do you think studying the MGMAT ADVANCE QUANT help?

Please help me. I seriously need one. Thank you in advance.

im surprised that you got 730 even after 6 wrongs in SC and Q47 in quant. are you sure??

I'm sorry for my unclear writing. My Gmatprep (I took it today) is 730 Q49 V41. Q47 mentioned above was the quant score I got from the real gmat test I took last month. The incorrect 6 SC I wrote was my mistake in GMATprep. (For the GMATprep Verbal part, I got 9 wrong and 6 were SC.)

here are my few cents for you. I would recommend you to narrow down your strengths and weaknesses and focus to eradicate any weakness by brushing that particular concept and doing some problems. For this you can analyze your previous test logs. This way you will save time and enhance you score quickly. Also try to do as many 700 level questions as you can here on GMC. There is a 700-800 difficulty doc floating. But make sure you are comfortable with sub 700 difficulty first. You can also use Gmatclub test to test your skill level.; they are really good.. especially for quant. Also you can try grockit.. they have good tricky quant questions.. helps with timing too.. I would skip the advanced quant guide from MGMAT. I have it, and all it does it reinforce concepts from the original quant books they make.

I think the best way to improve SC is to read MGMAT's guide and to start reading books. Reading books will give you an ear for identifying mistakes.
