Hi everyone,
I just took a GMAT exam yesterday and got 680 (Q-49 and V-33)
The first time I took GMAT I also got 680 (Q-49 and V-34)
It turned out that I performed poorly on SC, especially on the grammar part.
Here is my detailed score breakdown from ESR from the first time and the recent one:
Recent:
CR 87th percentile
RC 57th percentile
SC 27th percentile with 27% correct on GRAMMAR and 60% correct on COMMUNICATION.
First time:
CR 69th percentile
RC 66th percentile
SC 63rd percentile with 30% correct on GRAMMAR and 100% correct on COMMUNICATION.
When I practiced SC, I found that I could do well but may have taken a longer time than optimal time.
And in the real exam sitting, I was so shocked because it seemed like I never encountered this kind of grammar rule before. I could not do POE well as I could not spot errors.
Could you help me to strategize on the next step? I plan to take another exam in 2 months.
In the meantime, I would like to improve my reading skills as well, apart from SC.
Another question is whether should I cancel my score.
The first time I got IR4 but this time I got IR6.
PS: To provide you with my background, I'm not a native speaker and I haven't read many English books/articles. I did read only textbooks. That's probably a room for improvement for me.

Consider checking out Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for SC. For RC, becoming familiar with how INFERENCE questions work could be helpful as well. If you want to practice reading (but save Official passages/questions), articles from The Economist that are similar to those on the GMAT may be useful.
In case you've run out of Official questions and have the Official-Guide (you can get e-versions of the different guides from the MBA website), see whether it came with an online exclusive question bank you can activate/use.

To start, a 680/Q49 is a strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, another retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). That having been said, there's no harm in continuing to study - and you can pick up some points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) On what dates did you take your 2 Official GMATs?
2) How long have you studied in total? How many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Since you purchased both ESRs, then I'll be happy to analyze them for you. Before you can include attachments with your posts/PMs though, you need to have at least 5 posts in the forums (right now, you have just 1 post).
