jimmy02
just finished my free Manhattan CAT and my score is 580 (Q40,V31).
Please advise how to reach 720+ in one month.
I have finished
MGMAT books. OG15 & egmat verbal on-line course but score here reflects that something is missing.

jimmy02,
As rough as you must feel right now, I think you have some bright spots in your score and prep. You scored a Q40, which is fine for one month out (just because Q40 is 47th percentile doesn't mean you don't understand many of the core/fundamental math operations and how to abstract them). Furthermore, please don't get hung up on getting a 720+ overall score. I think you may find that your studying is less effective if you focus on the score rather than the core content; it is an issue of mentality. With that said, here are a few of my suggestions.
Quant:
1) you have great materials that you have gone through. Continue using the
MGMAT books and go over all the questions you have done. Pay attention to the "How to get better at XXX" sections and try various ways of solving quant. Go over your
error log, if you have one. At this point you need to identify your specific weaknesses within quant: arithmetic, algebra, prob/comb, geometry, etc.
2) Get engrossed with Official Guide quant problems. Don't just understand how the OG solves the problem, understand every aspect of the problem, including what makes the wrong problems wrong and how someone might get to the wrong answer. You will notice that you stop making the silly mistakes as often.
Verbal:
Again, your materials seem fine. The question is, are you understanding the material you are covering. Go back through the
MGMAT and e-gmat verbal. Sentence correction is a concrete way to enhance your verbal score, whereas CR and RC are more conceptual.
MGMAT's Sentence Correction guide is phenomenal and stand-alone. You won't need anything other than that guide. I here e-gmat is great.
The GMAT isn't easy, and the first mock GMAT can be nervracking. Most importantly, don't allow your mock score dictate your resolve, your attitude, and your commitment to doing well. You can accomplish more than you think you're capable of.
Post section breakdowns (DS/PS SC/RC/CR) so we can get a better idea of your weaknesses.
I hope my post was helpful (
+1 Kudos if it was)!
