Hi ,
My doubt is regarding the SAS formula for computing area of a right angled triangle :
Consider a 90-60-30 triangle with the basic side triad 5-4-3 also please assume side with length 4 as base thus the base angle as 30.
Area by geometry -( Base x Height ) /2 = (4x3)/2 = 6
Area by SAS : [( product of two sides ) x Sine ( of included angle ) ] / 2 = (5 x 4 x sine 30)/2 = 20/4 = 5 ( putting sin 30 = 1/2)
Why there is a difference in the two areas .
I have just started the preparation and thus very rusty in the basic math concepts ...I am guessing that I am missing something about SAS formula not being applicable in certain cases OR may be I am doing something profoundly stupid ...
Please help
