Hi UnDisclosed,

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's possible that you just have not put in enough time yet? Since you've been studying for about 2 months, and you seem to be performing well in the other areas of the GMAT, I'd like to know how much time you've spent focused on SCs?

1) Can you go into a bit more detail about how you've been studying for SC?
2) How comfortable are you with the various grammar rules and idioms involved?
3) What 'steps' do you go through when dealing with a typical SC?

Hi,

I have been preparing for GMAT from around 2 months. I wanted to get thoughts on my challenge with sentence correction (SC) problems. Throughout below, please read my comments only related to SC.

This is how my study / results in SC have progressed in last 2 months.
• started my preparation with grammar foundation course.
• scored around 50% in SC in Diagnostic Test of Official Guide (OG) Review.
• scored around 50% average in 2 practice tests from OG Review
• scored 29% in GMAT Prep exam 1
• reviewed grammar further and advance SC books and videos
• scored around 70% average in 3 practice tests (comprising all questions including hard level questions) from OG verbal
• scored 18% in GMAT Prep exam 2

Overall, I feel more confident now while attempting SC questions as compared to my diagnostic test attempt around 1.5 months ago; but I am not sure why I am not able to translate my study (and confidence) into better score specially in GMAT Prep exams?

Any thoughts and suggestions?

Hey UnDisclosed

The SC section is the easiest verbal section to make improvements on. Once you understand how to think and approach this question type, there are only so many ways you can be tested. Here at GMAT Pill we developed the 10 core frameworks which detail the 10 ways to approach GMAT sentence corrections.

Here is a sample video detailing one of the core frameworks: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... stion/2184
