Hello Everyone,
I've been a regular visitor to this forum. The people here have been really helpful and kind - thanks a lot.
I appeared for the GMAT once in December 2010 and scored 690 (q49 v35). I am not very satisfied with my score - partly because I believe I can do better than this.. and partly since I have certain financial constraints and want to improve my chances of acquiring a scholarship. I wish for about 30-40 points rise in score.
The last time I prepped, I enrolled in for knewton course. I exhausted all my knewton tests with scores ranging from 580 to 680...and then later prepared for another month, practicing OG11 problems... I also enrolled in for
MGMAT tests and my
MGMAT CAT scores varied from 630 to 750. Ofcourse I also gave the GMATPREP scoring 640 (GP1 with zero prep), 720 (GP1 after 2 months), 700 (GP2 first attempt), 770 (GP2 retake).
I'd prepared very meticulously last time - maintained error logs and pondered over each and every question I faced on the tests. I gave atleast 14-15 tests, thoroughly analyzing each. Perhaps due to lack of skill, test day fatigue or anxiety, I couldn't do as well as I'd hoped. I remember reeling mechanically through the last 15 odd questions in verbal because I really wanted the test to get over.
Now I've planned to take it a bit more easy and only study for about 2-3 hours a day. I've booked my GMAT appointment for 14th July and started solving problems from OG12 (completed SC and CR). During the course I gave two CATs one knewton and one
MGMAT free test. I scored 700 (v40 q46) in knewton and 750 (v45 q48) in
MGMAT.
Now my problem is that I don't know if these scores truly reflect my ability, esp in verbal. My job was made easier because I could vaguely remember the RC paragraphs and CR questions - though I didn't remember the correct answer choices, I knew what the sentence meant.
I mostly falter in trying to make sense of whats given in RC and CR given the short time frame. It takes me about 1-1.5 mins to fathom the details in CR and about 5+ mins in RC. So being already aware of the meaning of the sentences perhaps helped me score well in verbal.
I would like to know
1) Whether I should continue taking the same tests, knowing that it would be showing me inflated scores? If not, what are the other options?
2) I need new practice questions. Shall I enroll with a non-knewton GMAT prep course this time? I've read about grockit and gmaptill but i don't know how good they would be for my case.
3) Anything else you'd like to suggest?
Hope somebody would help me out!
Thanks in anticipation!
