Hi everyone,
Over the past month, I've been consistently working on my GMAT prep using the Expert Global mock test series. I started at a 405 and managed to push my score up to around 505. While that’s definitely progress I’m proud of, I’ve hit a plateau and have been stuck in the 505 ± 20 range for the past few mocks.
I’m trying to identify where exactly I’m going wrong and how to take my prep to the next level. A few things about my prep:
I’m giving mocks regularly and analyzing them afterward.
I’m finding timing a bit of an issue, especially in Quant.
Verbal feels inconsistent – sometimes I perform well, other times it tanks.
I'm not using an OG tracker yet, just marking questions I get wrong and revisiting them.
Would really appreciate it if someone could guide me on:
1. How to break through this 505 wall?
2. Should I change my study strategy or resources?
3. How to better analyze mocks and build consistency?
Open to all advice — study plans, resource suggestions, analysis strategies — anything that can help me level up.

For Quant, one thing that may help a bit is getting faster at doing EASY/MEDIUM level questions. If, for example, you get an easy question correct in the future during practice, try slowly reviewing it to see whether there may have been a more efficient path to the correct answer choice. For Verbal, quickly going through your error-log to see whether there may be certain types of questions you may be weaker on could also be helpful (e.g. assumption questions).

If I'm interpreting your post accurately, but it sounds like you're centering your prep around a high volume of non-official mocks. If you're at the 500 level, you've got gaps in both concepts and test taking skills. You need to make sure you do topic by topic conceptual study first to solidify your foundation (especially in quant but also in verbal), then do increasing difficulty practice sets, then go back to doing practice exams.
Solidifying concepts requires doing sets of 20,30 or 40 questions in a topic, not randomly getting a couple of problems in each topic on practice exams. Otherwise you're building your GMAT readiness on a really shaky foundation with lots of gaps.
