I suggest you to start reading MGMAT books again, but this time you have to be fast and do just skimming. revise all you concepts. try making notes of major concepts so you don't have to go through all books again. Start practicing from free resources and take free practice CAT Tests. At the end purchase GMATPREP exam pack 1 from MBA.COM
you will be given additional 2 CAT tests. if you got your desired scores bingo !!! time to take a test.. else go through your notes and clear concepts again

Please consider giving 'kudos' if this helped

Thank you, awal_786!!

I agree that I need to revise and note some concepts, specially, the one that is still unclear to my mind. However, reading MGMAT book is kind of boring and my mind wonders around if I have to read it again (don't know why, it just happens to me). Thus, I am reading GMAT club math book and grammar book to reinforce my knowledge and clarify doubtful issues.

Also, I try to solve meaning and clarity SC questions first, try to read the Economist and practice thinking about assumption wherever possible. I tried to spend 6 hours/day to study.

I hope it will help me to increase my score.

Again, thank you for your input!!

For quant, most of the mistakes I made were not really conceptual but rather silly mistakes and timing. In my downtime, on the subway, I play math games on my iphone that test speed and accuracy with basic arithmetic, addition, multiplication, division, geometry, number properties. So consider doing that or flashcards to reinforce basic concepts Consider using the gmatclub tests, Kaplan test bank, manhattan gmat tests.

Verbal - The OG explanations for the questions in the book are not very helpful. It's a better idea to look at the answer explanations in the forum.
For advanced prep, manhattan gmat offers a few workshops that could be helpful.

Hi Tangt16,

Same here, most of the mistakes in quant are due to silly mistakes (wrong calculation, incorrect transmit the questions into "equation"...) and timing. And I am highly appreciated your method to deal with time. May I ask which application you currently use to test speed and accuracy with basic maths? I am doing flashcards to review whenever I have free time now.

Verbal is always hardest! I thought that I understood clearly all things I had studied. But I still cannot work on it properly. This proves my thought incorrect. Starting again from scratch, poor me! But I believe I can do it! :D

Good day to you!

Categorizing your silly mistakes into several categories can help figure out the root cause. was it from reading too quickly, mis read the question, solved for the wrong variable, question, arthmitic error, wrong operation, misread your own handwriting, skipped a step, got i right but circled the wrong answer.

The gmat club iphone app has some flashcards of math problems. Math drills, my math app, or even luminiosity has some problem solving games. I usually do drills in times to improve speed and accuracy of simple math when i wouldnt have been able to study out of the book anyway and would just have been on facebook, ie in transit on the train, waiting for someone.

The manhattan gmat books are pretty comprehensive of verbal sections. Powerscore CR is 300 pages, as is the powerscore sc and can be added for extra review. the e-gmat reviews for sc, and cr seem to be very highly recommened on these forums but I haven't tried it yet. The gmat pill for rc also comes highly recommended.

Hi,

I can provide you with some advice in regards to the verbal section:

If you feel you need more grammar practice we would recommend "English Grammar in Use" (intermediate and advanced levels).

Please be aware that almost all grammar books tend to be exercise-oriented and often go into much more detail than what the GMAT tests. In addition, many grammar books do not deal with certain sentence structure issues (e.g. dangling modifiers). You need to cross-reference what is on the GMAT with the book you get. But "Grammar in Use" is probably the best grammar self-study book available.

Please remember that in order to beat the Sentence Correction section, you need to know the grammar and the techniques, AND how such grammar is applied in the GMAT itself.

Sincerely,
Evan
