Hello
VikiKapoor,
I hope you are doing good. Choosing between Schulich and Katz is a tough call, as both have their strengths and weaknesses in the context of your profile and goals.
Schulich:Pros:
Strong reputation in Canada: Ranked #1 in Canada by The Economist, Forbes & CNN Expansion, Schulich offers a well-respected MBA program with a strong alumni network in Canada.
General Management focus: Your broader post-MBA goals (Human Capital Consulting, General Management, new job function) might be better served by Schulich's general management curriculum and diverse career services.
Potential immigration options: Canada offers relatively easier immigration pathways for skilled professionals compared to the US.
Cons:
No scholarship: The full cost of attendance might impact your ROI, especially if you plan to return to the corporate world after graduation.
US job market: If your long-term goal involves working in the US, Schulich's network and career services might be less helpful than Katz's.
Katz:Pros:
Business Analytics specialization: The STEM program with a Business Analytics specialization aligns perfectly with your entrepreneurial background and the growing demand for data-driven HR professionals. This could potentially open doors to lucrative consulting opportunities.
Scholarship: The $44k merit scholarship significantly reduces the financial burden and improves your ROI.Cons:Immigration challenges: US immigration can be more complex than Canada's, especially for non-STEM graduates.
Limited General Management focus: The Business Analytics specialization might not be as helpful if your long-term goal is broader General Management or Human Capital Consulting.
Cost of living: Pittsburgh has a significantly lower cost of living compared to Toronto, which can impact your overall expenses. If your top priority is ROI and working in the US, Katz might be the better option, thanks to the scholarship and stronger US network.
If your priority is a broader General Management focus and easier immigration, Schulich could be a better fit.
Choose the program that best aligns with your individual goals and circumstances.
Good luck!
