Hello everyone,
Apologies for the long post in advance, but I really want to make the situation clear before raising my queries. I started my GMAT preparation around 2 months back, to take advantage of the lockdown time and have been relying mainly on GMAT Official book for guidance and preliminary abilities. I have taken few mock tests (freely available ones only), but the pattern is slightly surprising:
First was
GMAT Prep Official mock test which I took initially before even starting the preparation. I scored
620 (Q49, V25) which was an eye opener for me.
After some preparation, I took
Veritas Mock Test 1, and could get
680 (Q51, V37) which was again too loo compared to my target score of 750+.
Just a week later, I took
Kaplan Mock Test and scored
690 (Q50, V35) at which point I realized it was unnecessary to give mock tests without proper preparation.
Prepared for around 1.5 months without any mock, and then attempted
Veritas Mock Test 2, again scoring just
700 (Q51, V37), although the no. of wrong questions were reduced drastically.
Practiced for around 2 weeks on specific sections, took
eGMAT Mock Test, ending up scoring another
700 (Q49, V36) which was more disappointing because of the quant score.
Just the next day, I took
Princeton Review Mock Test, and scored
720 (Q51, V39), and was slightly delighted when I saw people posting about PR tests being below the mark.
Today, I decided to take the
GMAT Prep Official Mock Test 2 to actually test the waters, and surprisingly ended up scoring
780 (Q51, V46). I had expected something around 730-740 today, but not this high.
These random series of scores are bringing confusion to me time and again. Till yesterday, I had made up peace with 720, significantly decreasing my target score think that I was not made for 750+. But a 780 today, that too in official mock, made me rethink about the target.
The question for you guys here is how should I determine my preparation level? The private tutors say I'm not too expert in the subjects, but GMAT official says I'm standing almost at the top. Confused as to whether or not I need to give more time to other private tutor tests like Bloomberg, Manhattan,
Experts' Global, or not focus on those.
Also, which 1 or 2 more tests should I opt for in order to get an accurate picture of what's my standing, knowing that I have already leveraged the two Official tests. Finally, will it be good to retry the Official Mock Test 1, since it has already been over 3 months and I barely remember any question from it now.
