Hello everyone,
I have been studying for the GMAT since January 1st with
Magoosh. Before beginning my studies I took a Kaplan practice exam an scored a very low 480, but this was completely cold. Sine then I have been trying to follow the 3 month
Magoosh Math Study guide thinking that I would be able to do two lessons a day since I am not working or going out much. It has been a pain to even get through one lesson a day but I have somewhat stuck with it (SOMEWHAT).
Yesterday I decided to take an official GMAT practice exam and scored a 610. In the Quant section my scaled score was a 36 and in the 40th percentile. I got a total of 18 questions wrong, 7 DS and 11 PS. In the Verbal my scaled score was a 38 and in the 84th percentile. I got a total of 12 wrong 5 CR, 4 SC, 3 RC.
I am currently aiming for a 700 but would feel great if I could get a 690 or a 680. How should I switch up my study tactics? I absolutely freak when I get to problem solving questions, I am a mental math person and always try to do everything in my head and do not feel comfortable converting word problems into algebraic expressions. It is a skill that I lack but one that I badly need to develop. I will admit I have not reached the
Magoosh lessons on word problems and geometry (the places i feel like I struggle in the most).
I sit for my test on February 26th. I am not currently working and can hunker down and put in at least 5 hours of study time per day. Any words of advice?
