Hi all -
I'm new to this site and could probably find an answer to my situation by snooping around these forums for a few hours, but I really don't have the time...I need help!!
Currently an undergraduate student (junior) in a 5-year program to earn Bachelor's degree in biology and then an MBA. The way the program works (at University of Alabama) is that we've already taken business exposure classes and now, as juniors, we apply to the MBA program and are almost guaranteed admission. There's also a full-tuition scholarship guaranteed to anyone who scores a 700 on the GMAT.
My family and I recognize this as an incredible opportunity, and everything else has lined up perfectly....except for this test.
I studied over the summer using Kaplan 2015 Premier (the book, comes with 5 online CATs) and after about two months of studying, scored a 630 (Q42 V24). This fall, I've been completely swamped with Organic Chemistry, other classes, and competing for my university's speech team...I just realistically didn't have time to study. So I stayed here over Thanksgiving, focused on Quant, and spent a few days refreshing math concepts using a Barrons review book. Not surprisingly at all, four days did not help, and today I scored a 580 (Q36 V35). I ran out of time on Quant.
My current plan is to step away for two weeks (I have no choice because I have to take final exams for school) and then dedicate my 3 weeks of winter break to some hard studying. I'm thinking of buying the
Magoosh package with the videos and money-back guarantee for 50 points. Then I'd test in early Jan.
I guess I'm wondering...do you think it's worth investing more time and money to get the 700 before the end of January (that's the latest we can submit scores - we start grad classes this summer)? Is it even possible, considering I haven't scored above a 630 and I only have a few weeks to designate to the test? Are there any resources for rushed prep like this? Finally, do you have any advice for people who relentlessly struggle on the Quant section, no matter how much they review the concepts? THANKS!!!!!!!!
