BB, I see you do a lot to improve the forum. What do you think about math shortcuts? For example, "\(\sqrt{x}\)", "\(\frac{x}{y}\)", and "\(C^{n}_{k}\)" ?

Walker - thank you for continuous support!

What do you mean by shortcuts? Making it simpler to post math symbols?

Thank you

Sure. There are a few ways to do this and most are not complicated.

I see what you mean below - do you have a specific use case for pasting/attacing many small images?

Perhaps a post somewhere that has been esp painful?

This will help identify the best path/solution

By the way, I have one suggestion that seems to be essential for me.
There are two ways for embedding images into a post: 1) attachment 2) [img] - tag.
I've added my avatar image and smile icon using these two ways:

[img]

icon_smile.gif

For me, [img] looks much better than attachment, because "Attachment", "name of file", "size", "how many times users saw a image" do not contain any important information and just waste space. Especially, it is obvious for small images. So, I propose to show attached images using [img]-style.

I mean buttons like smilies or "B", "i" and so on. Just one click and you have something like that: /frac{}{}

I always thought about images that table view along with unnecessary info could look better. Recently, I was thinking about writing the guide on how make a good presentation but imagined how it would look with many small/average images and decided to post the suggestion. By the way, [img] style let us post a few images in one line and even insert text between them....

OK. got it. Would this be a better fit for your needs then?
(it still displays the "useless" information but does not get in the way.

Here is the formatting:

Code:
[aligntable=left,100,0,0,0,#ECECEC,#ECECEC][attachment=0]compas.jpg[/attachment][/aligntable]
Here are the parameters: align,width,marginleft,marginright,border,brdcolor,bkgrdcolor]{TEXT}[/aligntable]

Second parameter is the width of the table, and #ECECEC is the background color for the table as some browsers (Chrome show the post funky otherwise)

The Fractions and Square Root now have a simplified way of writing them - it was not possible to easily add a pure shortcut but a different simplification is possible.

Check it out:

Code:
[fraction]3/4[/fraction]

[square_root]5[/square_root]

You still need to enclose both sides with the M-Tags
