How the New GMAT Changes Affect My Prep Summary: I share my confusion and concerns about the new GMAT announcement that will exclude Sentence Correction and include new sections from 2024 onwards. I wonder how to balance my time and resources between the current and the future GMAT format, and how to choose the best prep material and courses for the new GMAT edition.
I have always been a below average student and I was never from a traditional engineering, finance or tech background. Having said that, in spite of all the challenges and medical setbacks I have had in the last 12 months, I have had my fair share of success by overcoming certain hurdles and getting back to normal health and prepping for GMAT once again.
My Current Verbal Prep and Dilemma On one hand, I am in a fix of how to go about prepping for my GMAT verbal and have already spent enough time and resources on Sentence Correction as it is one of the weakest points in my GMAT prep. On the other hand, I am equally perplexed with the news of the exclusion of SC and the new inclusions. I am being realistic to the core and mentally prepared to go for maximum attempts in order to achieve my desired score. However, due to the new changes in the GMAT format, I am kind of wondering if it is advisable to focus on Sentence Correction as this section makes up for a chunk of GMAT verbal at present but will be removed later as it is no more in the scheme of things for 2024 onwards.
My Questions and Concerns Here are some of the questions and concerns I have regarding the new GMAT changes:• I have already purchased a 2021 OG material in the past. Do I wait and invest in new OG material with the revised guideline content?
• I am planning to purchase TTP for quant. Earlier geometry was included in the quant prep however now this sections seems to be missing and new data insights have been added to the quant section ??
• I want to attempt my GMAT in the next 6 months. I am not sure of the roll out but this thought of focusing my time and energy for a section that will be erased completely in the next few months is killing me. I can use that time to focus on quant, RC, CR, IR.
• Previously, the prepping material and online prep companies had the exact idea on what can be expected on the test. However, with the new inclusions, for someone with average math's and verbal skills, how can one be sure of the existing prep material is the right choice for the new revised GMAT edition?
My Current Verbal Prep and Dilemma For example, I have the Manhattan SC guide, the OG SC questions, but I still struggle with the nuances of grammar and meaning. On the other hand, I am equally perplexed with the news of the exclusion of SC and the new inclusions However, due to the new changes in the GMAT format, I am kind of wondering if it is advisable to focus on Sentence Correction as this section makes up for a chunk of GMAT verbal at present but will be removed later as it is no more in the scheme of things for 2024 onwards.
Therefore, I would appreciate any advice or guidance from the experts or fellow test takers on how to deal with this situation and prepare effectively for the new GMAT format.
