New GMAT Format (Short) Debrief & Suggestions on Further Strategies

Hi everyone,
Just took the GMAT for the first time today with the new format. Although I’ve never taken an official GMAT before, I felt that the verbal section in particular was harder than the quant in terms of time management. For quant, I thought it was a little harder than usual, but that might be because I also felt a little out of it during that portion.
For verbal, I've always struggled more on V than Q. There were still 4 RC passages, and I personally felt that the SC was harder as well. I also felt so mentally exhausted at the end of verbal, which never happens to me when I usually take practice tests.
Overall, I’ll be retaking it because I got a 650 (Q48, V31), but will hopefully be more adapted to the new V format in the future. My previous GMATPrep scores have ranged from 640-690, with Q46-48, and V34-36. Feel free to ask me any further questions on what I thought.
I also just wanted to ask for some strategy suggestions when I retake it. Ideally, I would love to hit 720+. But right now, I am in my last month of undergrad, and won't have much time to dedicate to studying for the GMAT again, especially with finals, graduation, and some trips coming up before I move cross-country to start full-time. I start work mid-June, so I most likely won't be able to retake it until June/July, after I settle down. How would you all suggest preventing atrophy? I was planning on reading more for leisurely purposes to naturally improve my V score, and planning on studying at least 1 hour a day, and a little more on weekends, just so I won't lose the skills I currently have. Thanks!
