New GMAT™ Official Practice now available!Link: https://gmatofficialpractice.mba.com/ap ... s-1-2-freeGMAC has announced a month or so ago about the new GMAT Practice (without much details) and they have just released the new GMAT Prep Software UI.
There are some helpful and interesting improvements (such as additional study section with lessons and study plan, big countdown calendar, easier to activate paid tests, and perhaps the Strengths/Weaknesses assessment?). I am not sure if that is indeed something that has been missing in the GMAT Prep. I am not sure that I have ever expected GMAC to provide study tools or materials but it seems helpful. After a quick review the new lesson plan appears to be a copy of the OG 2022 Quant Review section that has been added. I was not particularly blown away with that section when it was added 6 months ago instead of new questions but OK. It does not hurt at least
The change of color is to match the UI of the latest GMATThe colors are new, the UI is mostly the same.
Please note: Your previous work from GMAT Official Practice won’t transfer to the new platform.
Current platform will be retired on Feb 28th, 2022.
How to Get it? Everyone can use the system to take the 2 free GMAT Prep Tests
If you have purchased Exams 3&4 or 5&6 in the past, you will be emailed a code by mba.com ... and it seems if you purchase GMAT Prep exams, you will only get the new ones. (I am trying to make a purchase, but my transaction has been stuck for review
). There appears no approach/method/option to get it other than via email at this time, which likely will not be received by everyone. It would be helpful if there was a way to activate/transfer previous purchases
Should you Use it or Upgrade?- If you have attempted ANY GMAT Prep tests, you should NOT upgrade. There is simply no reason to use a different UI that does not offer any improvements or any new questions.
- If you have not taken ANY tests in one of the banks (Exams 1&2, Exams 3&4, and Exams 5&6), you can and probably SHOULD attempt this bank on the new platform since the old platform will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022
Any Benefits to the New System? So far, the only benefit I can see is the ability to get more retakes out of the paid GMAT Prep Exams. (No benefits if you are using a free product) Traditionally, you are allowed one reset, which means you can retake them once (2 total attempts). Activating the tests with a new code in the new system would give you 2 more retakes, for a total of 4 attempts. I don't see much value in this unless your spouse wants to take the GMAT and you are sharing your mba.com account ... otherwise, you probably not going to benefit from re-taking the same set of questions, let alone 3 times.
