Does anyone know if the new shorter GMATPrep software will upgrade on top of the already downloaded software that I have?
I already took GMATPrep #1 test and I have #2 to do now. But if the new version comes out, I don't want to "reset" my questions (assuming that the new version doesn't recognize any of the questions that I had already finished in the past.
Does anyone know if the new software will just "update" the previous download I have, so that I don't have to lose my data?

No. We don’t. We can only guess and speculate until the 27th.
PS. The new gmat prep may be online. Just FYI. If you were not worried enough already

I'm not sure about this time, but earlier versions definitely preserved any existing testing data. My guess is that once you install the new version, your earlier attempts will not be lost, but any new attempts (exam packs or default pack reset) will be as per the new format.
