It’s a fraction of the cost you will have to pay for the exam. You can also buy a used book if you have to. The PDF will not have any of the data insights questions besides the data sufficiency.

Data insights questions are only available as a part of the question bank and not published in the book because you cannot have drop-down or sortable tables in the book or PDF so you will basically get just the P.S., C.R, R.C. and D.S. from two years ago…

I encourage everyone to buy the official guide because the more people buy it the more incentive GMAC gets to publish questions. If you look at the GRE, barely any official questions compared to the GMAT.

Thans a lot. Then the topic the official guide question has online is same with paper book?

yes. With the exception of the data insights which are only available online. It’s not possible to solve those questions in paper format

I wonder if i can get ebook version of the contents if im buying paper book since its too heavy to carry around.

Kind of. If you bought a physical book, you don’t get a PDF version of it that you can solve or read on a Kindle but you get access to the question bank which contains all the questions.

I would say the connectivity between the question bank and the physical book is not great. It’s not easy to look up question 320 for example in the online quiz so it’s hard to kind of match questions and so it’s hard to move between the physical book and the online question bank.

So do you recemmend to get ebook version too?

The envorionment i have for studying is that i usually get 2 hours can use to read ebook (during the work time) and 2 hours for using physicall book (after work, study time)

So i wonder the connectivity is important to enough to buy ebook, or i can utilize my time frame well.

Currently im thinking using 2 hours at work for solving problem and correct myself with error log. And using other 2hours with papaer book to read through the whole book

There’s nothing in the official guide for you to read or learn. It’s a question collection and I do not recommend that you get an e-book and pay again for it. The part you have to come to terms with is that it doesn’t have strategies or helpful information for getting over 600. I mean you’re welcome to try using it but pretty soon you’ll discover how meager it is. So you will need some kind of a supplement such as Manhattan books or a course or some thing other than official guide.

Slight correction to the above (or addition) - the questions are SUPER valuable, but that’s diff in my mind than learning how to tackle CR’s or getting a timing strategy or an approach to the RC that MGMAT books would give you or a course would provide. OG is very useful but it is not enough on its own since it is a collection of official questions. Think of it is as a box of COVID tests. They won’t cure COVID (not sure what will) but you really need a treatment/medicine that hopefully will kill the virus. SOrry for a horrible analogy.

MGMAT - Manhattan GMAT. The only decent GMAT bookset on the market these days. 😥

No. This is a third party resource (unofficial). However, the Focus edition books are not going to be printed until March likely, so only the old edition is available at this time.

However, MGMAT has been the golden standard of gmat prep for decades now with highly skilled tutors - they use the same books for their courses too.

So technically MGAMT is a textbook and OG is reliable practice book

However, it is not like GMAT Focus is that much diff from Classic. You just don’t read the SC section and that’s kind of it on the surface at least... but you can always get a course instead.
