Not sure how many people here are frequent travelers - that's really a habit i picked up only after my MBA but for those who are - there is a great new deal from Chase and United Airlines. This could be very handy esp. if you need a last minute trip.
New United Visa offer: 40K bonus miles; 50K total miles after 1 year
* first year free,
* 20,000 bonus miles with first purchase (note, no requirement for minimum spending)
* 10,000 bonus miles for spending $10,000 on the card in six months (if you hit the $10,000 spending threshold, it amounts to earning double miles for your first $10k in spend)
* 10,000 bonus miles on your first anniversary with the card (which will imply paying a $60 fee)

only problem is that United airlines are rubbish

There is no comparison between UA and ANA/Singapore. That's why ANA or Singapore issue credit cards with 40K bonus miles - however, UA is in star alliance, so if you need a ticket from Asia to US, just get another 10K miles (60K and with some luck and advance planning), you can be flying Singapore or ANA for virtually nothing.
