Add Yale to that list - I think a lot of schools do it. It is definitely a slap in the face...but this is the worst:

I got rejected at Yale and then got an e-mail from their associate director whom I had recently sent an e-mail updating them on my final Accounting I grade - the day after my rejection she wrote me that I must be "very disappointed in my recent rejection." WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

I believe it just shows that their marketing database is separate from their application database. In fact, I believe that most schools use outside services to run their application databases.

Also, it might not necessarily be effective for them to try eliminate names from the marketing database as decisions are made because people might not use the same email addresses.

Still, that kind of sucks. The email from Yale is just rude. You should write back and say something like "you must really be disappointed that Harvard Business School so heartily kicks your ass."
