Hi Experts of GMATCLUB,
I have recently given 3 Mock Tests over the span of last 3 weeks and following have been my scores -
MGMAT Mock 1 - 580 Q43 V28
Veritas Mock 1 - 610 Q43 V31
MGMAT Mock 2 - 570 Q39 V30
What should be my steps going forward in preparation? My target score is 720+. I seem to have achieved a certain level of consistency in Verbal but I need atleast V37-38+ along with Q49-50 to achieve my target score. I have not given any official Mocks yet and I’m yet to give my first GMAT Attempt. I am planning to give my GMAT in March( And leave sometime for a retake if required) and I plan to apply in upcoming Admissions Cycle in Early Decisions round.
What should be my strategy going forward?
The general order in which I attempt the Mock Test is Verbal -> Quant. I experience major burnout in Quant. I start losing patience and I’m unable to think straight. The Veritas Prep Mock I completed the entire Quant section in 39 minutes. How do I overcome this and build stamina as well?
I have completed GMATWhiz course. Now if I am being honest I have never actually used OG for preparation. I have solved OG questions on GMATClub forum to a certain extent but I have not solved the OG. What should be my path going forward to achieve my target score?

Aragorn101 - The first red flag is that you did not take a single official practice test. However much great the practice tests of other test prep companies are, only GMAT Prep practice tests can correctly gauge your scoring abilities. That said, I believe you need help in both quant and verbal. While a verbal score in the range of 28-31 is just okay, the quant score in the 39-43 range is quite low. Therefore, you must devote equal time to both sections. I have not gone through the GMATWhiz curriculum but trust it is great - did you follow the exact study plan offered by the course? Also, stamina will develop over a period of time. Perhaps, you still need to figure out the intrinsic motivation to reach the 720+ score level? Doing so will provide you with enough stamina to complete the three and half hour test.

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your 3 CAT score results show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 600 +/- a few points). You handle certain aspects of the GMAT consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes.
Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) How long have you studied so far? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Have you used any other study materials beside the course that you mentioned?
3) Are these the only 3 CATs/mocks that you have taken or have there been any others?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
