There are people who go into the commercial bank mgmt programs, but they are not the type who talk about themselves all the time. IB is a business of many egos, desirable to lots of people who love talking about what they want to do and how they are into the challenge and not the money. Though when the money goes, like the past few years, you suddenly notice way less people applying to do I-Banking.

Also, you overlook that this is only the first step out of business school. A fair percentage of people go in to IB for the 'exit opportunities', which is akin to saying they can't see how they could do banking for more than three years without going crazy.

Anyway - Commercial Banking is much more of a long term, stable career move, which is way less popular as a business school direction change than those that promise wealth and prestige.
