I am looking at applying to masters of finance programs as a career switcher. I have a family connection at an investment bank after completing, but I do not feel I yet deserve with my background. I am 32 years old, and I think I will likely (just) break 600 on GMAT based on practice tests. I live in TX currently, but am somewhat flexible. I would like to do an MS in finance
BA- Non-Target Midwest Liberal Arts School- Degree in Communications- 3.6 GPA last 60 hours (I was a little bit of a late bloomer..)
MBA- Executive- Top 25 Business School- Graduated with highest honors (top 20% in class) while running the PE backed business I laid out.
My background highlights are that I ran a private equity backed business for a lower middle market PE firm in oil and gas and we exited, providing a stellar (think about 3.5X) return for investors. Was mentored by a highly successful CEO at the beginning, and took it over and made something of it during and after $26/Oil.
What school would I be a target for?
Here's a few ideas:

-DePaul
-UT Dallas
-University of Illinois
-UT Austin

The EMBA might cause issues with MSF admissions, but assuming you talk to them and assuage their concerns, you should be competitive for all the schools you mention, with the exception of UT Austin. You might want to look at ND's PT MSF as well since you are looking at Chicago based schools. The lower GMAT will be an issue, but many of these schools will waive it for you.
At your age and experience level, I would ask yourself why you want to do IB. Without previous IB experience you will find it hard to come in as an associate. Assuming you cab get over that, you will still be pretty junior. For what it is worth, I'd probably do an MSF in Texas and build on your previous experience.

MSFHQ- First off, thank you so much for the thoughtful reply- love your site. In this case, I've wanted to do IB since a few years out of undergrad, but had to grind in a different direction due to my background (BA in communications is not exactly a hot ticket for IB from a non-target school) and will have support for 18-24 months when I make the transition. I think I'm going to be a great banker on all the soft skills, I've worked for PE and they seemed to like me quite a bit, and I just need to add the modeling and analytics side (beyond what you learn in the general MBA). Said another way, I know that I can originate the first day on the job, but I need some development on the execution side. I also look at it as a matter of pedigree: most all went to Ivy league or U Of C/Kellogg- so an SMU or UT would check the box there as well. Finally, an MSF would help me hit the ground running. I could always push through- I appreciate your direction in advance!
