Hello
I have been preparing for GMAT for almost 7 months and still, I am not able to score well on Verbal section. I have been scoring V28 to V31 on mocks. Despite applying all the fundamentals and techniques, I am stuck at 650. One 700 level question pops up and Game-Over! Also, I have been struggling more on RC's since i started my prep.
I read various debriefs and came to know that RC cannot be just improved in 1 month or so. It requires good reading and comprehensive skills. But I am a slow reader. Whenever i take a Verbal mock, I have to rush around last 6 questions and make a guess with only 1 min left. And upon analysis, I find almost all of them wrong. Since i always aim, from the very beginning, not to waste more than 2 mins on any question of verbal, still i am left with 5-6 questions at last. So, along with RC, Timing is also one big issue for me in Verbal. I take almost 7-8 mins in a RC only to find out that 3 out of 4 are wrong. Sometimes, I get 2 correct but in RC's, accuracy is limited to 50%, it doesn't go beyond that most of the times!
Although, I score good on SC and CR side till i keep getting 600-700 level questions. I make mistakes on SC and CR mostly on 700 level questions. I have solved and practiced many RC's but still i am not able to complete one passage in a specified time limit. Its so heart-throbbing to guess all 5-6 questions at the end and I think the reason behind rushing to last few questions is only due to RC. Can someone guide me on this, what should be done to time myself on RC. I have been also reading "The Economist" and various other articles since one month, but it seems I started out too late but still, I can't see any progress. Should I be reading other articles (if yes, please suggest some more) or any other strategies to boost up my RC?
Any suggestions or feedback would be heartily appreciated.
