I see that "not only / but" type is commonly used on articles from magazines such as " the economist", BWk, etc. Check this extract from the economist :

AFAIK not only..... but also..... is pretty much the standard choice in GMAT. Have you found a question that has not only.... but.... as the correct answer? Would be interested to see it if you have.
In fact, I've never seen a SC Q with "not only ..but" type, however if you go to CR on OGuide11 Q108 page 499, you'll see a sentence using this structure:
" not only will surgery and recovery time be reduced, but custome replacements should last longer..."
Take a look on this example and tell me the correct answer
