I am in the process of putting together my list of schools. I don't want to apply to too many, mainly because I don't want to be a pain for my recommenders. On the online applications, can the recommenders attach a standard written letter or do they have to fill out a form/answer a series of questions specific to each school? If it is the former, I will probably apply for a few more schools, but if its the latter I'll have to cut my list down to make it easy on the recommenders. Thanks for your advice.

As always, it is best to check with the specific school if you have doubts. However, business schools realize that it is difficult to get recommenders to use the forms. In some ways, I prefer "free form" letters since they allow the authors to express their support for you in a more natural way.
Beyond the LORs, don't forget that you will have to write several essays for each school as well. Just revising the essays for one school can take hours.
