Hi everyone,
I gave my 2nd attempt at the GMAT on Nov 6 and got a 730 (Q48, v42, IR5). On my first attempt in May 2018 I got a 700 (Q48, v39, IR8, AWA5). So, not much of a growth story here to inspire. "540 to 770" sounds cooler
. In fact, I was kinda hesitant to write this post as I wasn’t sure what value I would bring to anyone by doing so. However, today morning I decided against it because I feel it would be quite rude of me not to thank GMATclub for all the help I got from the site during my preparation.
A big thank you to all at GMATclub!A bit of background - I am 30 years old and already have an Indian MBA degree. I started preparing for the GMAT almost a year ago. However, my preparation was quite intermittent due to other factors, especially my job. However, in hindsight, I wouldn't be reluctant to agree that it could've done in a shorter duration. For anyone who’s just getting started I would suggest you first talk to/go through posts of people who’ve been through it. I didn’t. GMATclub can really help here.
I don’t really have any special tips or amazing resources which are already not out there, so not gonna harp on about my prep. All I can say is, make sure you find out what works for you and use that instead of blindly following others. It’s easier said than done coz there is a lot of content out there.
Also, during the test do not get stuck. Keep moving. More often than not, you’ll find that you scored better on tests on which you were “smoother”, even if that means smart-guessing and moving on for some questions. I don’t know if others will agree, but I found it to be true in my case. On two occasions, I scored 740 and 750 on GMATprep tests and even on those, I followed this approach.
Anyway, I realize I did exactly what I said I wouldn’t i.e. give GYAAN, so gonna close here. GMATclub is a great resource with a lot of great stuff. Make sure you use it.
