Hi All,

Long story short, I took the GMAT a few years ago fresh out of college (Kaplan), and did terrible (400s). Fast forward to this year, I studied for 2 months (Manhattan and OG20) and took the GMAT for a second time (in person) and basically received the same score. I want to be ready for apps by August, should I wait until after the holidays to take up studying again? How long? and get a tutor this time? Are there in person tutors during this time?

Thanks!

Hi Zach,

I can somehow relate to your story as I made the mistake to simply read the Manathan collection early on without practicing much and scored in the mid 500 the first time I tried a free full test.

What made the biggest differences for me was to follow online classes.
Gmat Ninja did great videos for GMAT Club and GMATWiz also had amazing content and free live lectures every weekend for 2-3 months over the past summer.
So my advice would be to look at the style of different tutors on YouTube and then select the one that would work with you.
Some online content cost about the same price as the GMAT so it can be a worthy investment as you could repeat the gmat less times.

Have a look on gmatclub's YouTube channel, there are tones of classes and stories from test takes, including an Australian guy who went from low score to 700+ in 7 attempts in a few years.

Best of luck for your preparation.

*EDIT* - I'm aiming for first round application 2021

Thanks!

What is your target score? I feel you must improve on your basic concepts first. BTW, what was your split in verbal and quant?
