Hi All,
I am new to GMAT FE, I got two free Mock tests as a part of registration.
I gave the 1st Mock test and tried to give the same test again and I was able to do it.
I gave the same mock thrice with 0 questions as repeats. So every time a new set of questions came.
I was planning to take the other paid Mock (3-6) , but now I think of just giving Mock 1 and 2 only for practice.
Can someone here tell me that giving the same mock again and again will reflect a correct close to exam score?
Also how many times can I re-give a paid mock (3-6)?
Hi Shreyanshu,
For my GMAT prep, I had given a total of 10 official practice tests - 1 to 5 (2 times each). These are my findings:
- For the free tests 1 & 2, you can attempt them as many times as you want, and it has a larger pool of questions compared to the paid ones.
- After 2 attempts, it becomes highly likely that you might see a repeat question, and that may skew the result you get from that test.
- For the paid tests, you can only attempt them twice, after which they disappear, and you can't attempt them even if you want to retry with repeat questions.
- The second attempts of the paid tests are not a good indicator of your final score (at least in my case). In all of the second attempts I gave, my score was inflated way above what I should be getting (I got two 775s and one 735 in second attempts).
- This happens because the test runs out of high-quality questions in the repeat attempt, and even if it doesn't repeat any question, it is unable to provide you with the challenging questions you would get in the actual exam.
Thus, my overall advice would be: Buy the paid practice tests (at least 3 & 4), and give them each a couple of times. However, only rely on the scores you get in the first attempts for a closer estimation of your actual score.
