Debrief from Saturday:

To start, I was only there for a grand total of 15 minutes. I'd been up since 7 that morning for work and was exhausted and tired. So my experience may be different.
I attended the school fair (the free part) on Saturday and like Shaselei said it was packed. Most people flocked to the top 10 schools while some lower tier schools looked like they didnt get a visitor the entire time. I couldn't think of any really unique questions to ask and frankly I was braindead by the afternoon so I was more comfortable listening anyway. Lots of questions about financial aid, interviewing, school visits, etc. No one really stood out by any super unique questions, but some people did make themselves look bad by asking "Do you think I have a chance based on XYZ criteria?" or "I should register during the open-interview timeslot or else I probably won't get an interview, right?" So there wasn't much upside but definitely a potential downside. Overall, I didn't hear anything from any adcom or student that I couldn't find on the website. If that sounds cynical it may just be the exhaustion kicking in. I did value getting to see and hear adcom's and current students face to face though.

Thanks. Usually if you feel strongly about one school or another, there is value in being able to interface with adcom face-to-face and get their contact info and trying to be memorable. They are usually pretty open, so you could leverage this at a later time if you needed any help/questions, and also getting yourself out there, will give them a chance to vouch for you when it comes to slashing and cutting.
