Thanks for the support, everyone. My profile is on the google spreadsheet floating around somewhere in the previous posts. Got into the Wknd program, which was my 1st choice.

NYU sends you an initial notification per email with a follow-up admission package in the mail (have not received yet).

Looking forward to meeting you guys soon.

I assume you applied for part time. From what I hear, part time interviews are rare. Can you tell us what in your profile do you think triggered an interview?

Being a part time MBA applicant I was very surprised being called for the interview. Some of the reasons that come to mind is my Russian Education, and the lack of the background in finance or accounting.
So if anybody knows what to expect in the interview, type inquiries, style of the interview in Stern ext. please share your knowledge.

I would assume they are very similar to full time interviews. I don't see any reason for them to be different. Did you indicate a career switch in your application or do you have a long commute?

Here are few resources you might find useful.

Also might be worth reading the full time thread.

I guess be prepared to explain your choice to switch career. Per their website the part time program is geared towards professional who either want to progress within the company or acquire new business skills. It is widely discussed about the biggest draw back of NYU part time program which is lack of access career services such as on campus recruiting.

They probably just want to see your expectations from the program.

How do you go about picking which Core group you want? I am doing the weeknights program, so other than picking monday/wednesday vs tuesday/thursday is there anything else I should be looking for? Can we see who the professors are for the different sections?

Thank you

You can see the schedule at:

https://w4.stern.nyu.edu/registrar/sched ... llPT1.html

You can also see the professor / course ratings when you login to your net id.

I think that is one additional criteria worth looking for. Beyond that i think it depends on one's individual schedule needs.

Existing students,

Are there any professors that are more highly recommended than others? Any thoughts on Irving Schenkler, Anat Lechner or Robert Lyon?

I need some info on waiving core courses. Now as I'm an economics major I would like to waive "the global economy" and replace it with a different course. I'm in the weekend program, and this course is not offered in the fall semester. Do I still submit the waiver form now? How do I find out which courses I can substitute it with?Pls someone can shed some light because i'm a bit confused with this whole core waiver thing. Thanks!!

nnc2010, I think what beebu said here is really important. Your stats seem pretty competitive, however, by stating that you want to switch careers that may have hampered your application a bit. I'm sure as long as you explain that you understand that the program isn't for those that want to switch careers, but that exposing yourself to the business world via the Langone program is extremely invaluable whatever decision you ultimately make, you'll be fine. Good luck on the interview and let us know how it goes.

On another note, I am choosing my core group based on the sample schedule offered for completing the program in 2 years. I don't know if I'll be able to do it, but if I start off on the right foot, it won't be difficult for me to keep up the pace in the end.
