C and D comes close, but D can be eliminated because the argument does not oppose any alternative explnation but rather support and competing explanation...

tough one...i used the 3-2 split...and came down to C and D...can't decide!!

what's the difference between competing and alternative?

I think D is wrong because it says that the second boldface is evidence AGAINST an alternative explanation that the argument defends...
And the second boldface is not against but in favor.

C it is. D is out because it says the second boldface is an 'evidence' when clearly it is just a hypothesis
