sorry to hear about your rejection at Booth.
I wouldn't say it is quite common, but it does happen to be accepted at H/S after being rejected by other M7.
As a matter of fact, I have worked with someone who was rejected by Columbia and then got accepted at Stanford.
After all, schools look for different things in their applicants and it is not all about just stats (i.e. GMAT, GPA...). Also, you may have done a better interview with HBS than you did with Booth. Maybe you were better prepared, or less nervous or who knows...
So, please do not lose hope. You can still get accepted.

I don't think there are any reliable statistics out there about this situation -- only anecdotal evidence that it absolutely CAN happen. I've actually had it happen to several clients. One of the most memorable was dinged at 6 schools but ultimately got into Stanford -- THE hardest program to be accepted to. ?!?! So, it's really anyone's guess what will happen. You are up against different applicants and have a different adcom trying to put together a diverse class. Your chance of getting into HBS is totally independent of what happened with Booth. Best of luck to you!
