We need to answer the question:
#Balcony & No-fireplace = ?
Statement One Alone:
=> There is a total of 150 apartments in the building.
Total = 150
#No-fireplace = Total - #Fireplace = 150 – 80 = 70
#Balcony & No-fireplace = #No-fireplace - #Neither = 70 – 30 = 40
Statement one is sufficient. Eliminate answer choices B, C, and E.
Statement Two Alone:
=> 35 of the apartments in the building that have a balcony also have a fireplace.
#Both = 35
#Balcony & No-fireplace = #Balcony - #Both = 75 – 35 = 40
Statement two is sufficient.
Answer: D
