Re: Of the employees at a software company, the ratio of engineers to non- [#permalink]

Solution

Given:
    • At a software company, the ratio of engineers to non-engineers is 3:5

To find:
    • Engineers make up what percentage of the employees at the company

Approach and Working Out:
    • Engineers/Non-engineers = \(\frac{3}{5}\)
Let us assume that the number of engineers at the company = 3x
    • Implies, the number of non-engineers = 5x
    • Thus, the percentage of the engineer employees at the company = \(\frac{3x}{(3x + 5x)} * 100 = \frac{300}{8} = 37.5\)%

Hence, the correct answer is Option B.
