Suppose there are 200 Students in the school, of which 45% i.e. 90 study a foreign language. Of those 90 students, 70% i.e. 63 study more than 1 foreign language. Remaining, 27 will study exactly 1 foreign language.

27/200 = 13.5%

Take 100 students in the school

Given:
45 study FL
70% of the 45 study more than one FL
What is 30% FL ?

70*45/100 = 31.5
Remaining = 45-31.5 = 13.5

Of the students at a certain school, 45% study a foreign language. Of those students who study a foreign language, 70% study more than one foreign language. What percent of the students at the school study exactly one foreign language?

Percentage of all students who study a foreign language: 45

Percentage of foreign language students who study more than one: 70

Percentage of foreign language students who study exactly one: 100 - 70 = 30

Percentage of all students who study exactly one: 0.30 × 45 = 3 × 4.5 = 13.5

A. 10.5%
B. 13.5%
C. 16.5%
D. 31.5%
E. 38.5%
