As I'm sure many of you are doing also, I've been tracking COVID-19 news closely. There were announcements by the U.S.-CDC about how the general public should NOT wear masks. I find reading the U.S. CDC's urging for people to stop buying masks can be an interesting exercise in critical reasoning, and the CDC announcement could even be a CR/AWA prompt (with modifications to fit the GMAT standard/format, of course). Here it is:
https://www.nytimes.com/article/prepare ... nk-7797307"Unless you are already infected, face masks won’t help
But if you’re infected, masks can help prevent the spread of a virus.
Face masks have become almost synonymous with the coronavirus outbreak overseas, but they don’t do much to protect you — most surgical masks are too loose to prevent inhalation of the virus.
The C.D.C. and infectious disease specialists do not recommend face masks if you’re healthy.
But if you’re a health care worker or are caring for sick people at home or in a health care facility, you should wear one.
If you’re infected, masks can help prevent the spread of a virus. The most effective are the so-called N95 masks, which block 95 percent of very small particles.
On Saturday, the surgeon general urged the public to stop buying masks, warning that it won’t help against the spread of the coronavirus but will take away important resources from health care professionals."I think this would make an interesting AWA prompt and stimulus for CR. Anyway, I'll leave this here; just a random musing, applying the GMAT thinking hat in examining current events.
Oh wow this is interesting
Dayum, I have been busy or else I'd have totally done it
So the following things have happened in the last 3 months
I have assisted two start ups, I have been preparing for GMAT, I have created a new website for my free service, then I am again working on my full time job.
It has been so hard, I have been busting my butt to manage everything.
Oh not to forget, the chaos that comes with two admits.
Also, apparently, I apologised to Katz and now that is added to the list of chores on regular mails.
Yeah, I have grown up, haven't I?
