The office manager strongly implies that recycled paper is inferior. An appropriate response would address this concern, perhaps by stating that “recycled paper is not inferior,” and then backing up that claim with good, solid evidence.
The stationer does indeed address the issue, saying that recycled paper is not necessarily inferior, but then goes off on a tangent discussing the history of recycling in the production of paper. Now really, who cares about paper from the beginning of time? The stationer’s evidence is irrelevant to the issue at hand: whether the recycled paper of today, the kind the office manager would use, is inferior. This is the stationer’s major flaw—he fails to provide relevant evidence to support his claim in the defense of recycled paper, choice (B).

- Correct. How is the fact that historically the finest paper were been made with recycled material relevant to the current quality of the recycled paper? It's not relevant !
(E) It ignores the office manager’s legitimate concern about quality.
- No. The concern is not being ignored. Rather, the stationery supplier is giving irrelevant details to persuade the office manager.
Option B is correct.
