Hi everyone,
I have some questions for those who have taken the gmat and score very well (above 90th percentile) and used the Official Guide (OG) as the study tool:
1. When you practiced using the OG, did all of you always answered 90+% of the questions in each section correctly? I understand that most of the questions in OG are in the Easy-medium difficulty level, and that we should put more attention to the harder level questions. However, I was just wondering weather the performance in OG can be used as a predictor of the performance in the real gmat.
2. How many of you had problems with some of the difficult questions (especially in the PS and DS Math sections), and still did very well in the real gmat?
3. For those of you who had consistently answered 90+% of the questions in each section correctly, how many of you didn't get above 90th percentile in the real "gmat test".
I'd like to thank all of you in advance for answering these questions. I just want to see how the OG really helps with the score.

The OG by itself will not get you 90th percentile. It is just a springboard to the GMAT ocean. But it is a good springboard. Looking back, I recall that I have alot of problems with the hard questions from OG. I could barely get right about half of them when I started my preparation. So don't worry about your performance in the beginning. Do all the questions from the OG and then I recommend you to do all the challenges from gmatclub. This will really boost your performance.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm having some difficulties as well with some of the hard questions in the OG. Maybe out of 10 questions, I only got 6-7 of them right (for the last 40 questions in each section). That's what made me worried. Considering that the proportion of the hard questions is small, I'm worried the prep offered by OG may not be sufficed.
I did go over again and again all of the hard questions, but I still feel uncomfortable not knowing whether more hard questions that I'm unfamiliar with would appear in the real gmat (i.e. something that look so alien to me!!).
