Just wanted to recap my experience. Studied for about 5 months total pretty intensely. I took 1 practice GMAT after about a month of studying, another after two months, and the final 4 within a month and a half of the actual test.
OG Practice Test 1: 710 (Q 44, V 44)
OG Practice Test 2: 740 (Q 49, V 42)
OG Practice Test 3: 720 (Q 47, V 41)
OG Practice Test 4: 760 (Q 50, V 44)
OG Practice Test 5: 750 (Q 47, V 46)
OG Practice Test 6: 770 (Q 49, V 48)
At this point I felt pretty good about verbal and put in another 2 weeks of math studying before the real exam.
Actual Test 1: 730 (Q 45, V 44)
Felt the math on the actual exam was much more difficult than what I had seen on the OG practice. Thought I could do much better so I took in again a week later.
Actual Test 2: 700 (Q 46, V 40)
Again, felt the math was much harder as well as the verbal this time. Anyway, 730 / 700 isn't bad for the schools I'm apply too, just disappointing given how the practice tests were going. Anyone have a similar experience? This seems atypical based on what I've read.

Getting the ESR if possible may be helpful. Probably fair to say the Quant and Verbal section scores are fluctuating. Your highest Quant mock score was a Q50 but your highest Quant actual was a Q46, for example. Looking at the data may provide some insight.
All the best if you decide to apply with the 730. It's a score many people would be happy to have.

People generally find the practice tests and the real GMAT pretty close in difficulty, but the mix of questions you see on a given GMAT can make it relatively hard or easy for you. So, maybe you just saw a mix of questions that wasn't ideal for you.
Also, it could be that to a degree, your prep was skewed toward preparing for the official practice tests, rather than for the real GMAT, because much of what gets said about the GMAT informally and in study materials really applies more to the official practice tests than to the GMAT in general.
So, those or a number of other things could have happened.
It might make sense to try taking the GMAT one more time if your accuracies on sets of practice questions have been super high since, in that case, it's likely that you are basically ready to score higher on the GMAT and just had a couple sub par sessions.
If you'd like to consider some other possible reasons why your real GMAT score didn't match your practice test scores, you could get some ideas from this post.
