Please advise - if you are an Indian undergrad currently in the US - having a similar situation.
The applications to the schools I am applying seem to require "official transcripts" from all post-secondary colleges.
When I contacted my undergraduate university in India about sending “official transcripts”, they informed me that their procedure is to merely verify and certify a duplicate copy of my transcript as a “True Copy”. In order to do so, I am required to show them my original transcripts. Unlike US universities, they do not have any other mechanism to directly order “official transcripts”.
While I have one copy of the original transcripts with me and can arrange to send it there and have it certified as above, this process seems to be quite risky (in terms of potential loss of the original copy in transit). It will also not meet the deadlines.
I am in the process of contacting the schools here for alternatives to above, but doubt they'll make any exceptions. If you had a similar situation, please advise on how you handled this.
Thanks!
