GOLDEN QUOTE:
It's insult to OG if you won't go through it* at least three times.

So I started from a 430 and I'm pretty much stuck at the upper 500's my last test I got a 580. And I got about another month or so I crank out a 600+ score on the actual GMAT. I don't need some ridiculous score of 700+ or anything as I'm just going to my state university which is definitely not harvard but decent nonetheless. Now here's my problem. I know I can do better in the quant but I am pretty much at a standstill when it comes to verbal. I can do the easier questions without a problem but I need more exposure to 600 & probably 700 level question in order to get where I want to go. So where do I find them at other than the OG and a practice content from MGMAT?

Thanks.

vwjetty,

A couple of things

1. Great improvement from your level. So something must be working!
2. You can definitely do better on the quant side. Your target should be to touch Q42.
Ask yourself if you comfortable with key concepts in the following areas:
- Divisibility and Primes
- Odds and Even
- Consecutive Integers
- Inequalities and Absolute Values
- Percentages and Ratios
- Word Problems (Time/Rate/Speed,Time/Rate/Speed/Ratios)
3. On the verbal side you need to find out which is your problem area. Go through the Manhattan SC a couple times. Most questions on MGMAT test the concepts in the book so you should see your score move in this area to around 35 or so. Beyond that you'll have to do well on the CR section/RC section. I am not a great fan of the CR questions in MGMAT though. They are not as well worded as the ones in the OGs.

Btw, I used to be in your position a couple of months back.

Hey man.. my situation is exactly same as yours... could you please guide me how did u managed your time... ? like just before a month how much time did u devoted ? thanks

hey

thanks for the advice. your suggestions will definitely be put into action. I only went through the OG once so yeah, that may be the problem and Ima download one of them error logs and give 'em a try.

viksag,

I graduated college back in May and since then, it's really just been white-on-rice gmat prep. Before I say anything else, I will say that I am a slow learner and somewhat ignorant when it comes to learning from mistakes. My schedules per week is pretty much study 5 to 6 days of the week and at the end of the week, take a mgmat cat to see where I'm at. Here is a run down of what I did starting back in May.

May -
- Review all of Kaplan Premier + CD material (didn't find it too useful)
- Review all of the verbal from MGMAT (very good) + doing suppliments from OG 11

June -
- Review all of quant from MGMAT + doing suppliments from OG 12
- Review Barron's GMAT prep (this was pretty much a waste of time because it definitely wasn't helpful but good refresher I guess)

July -
- Took a break here for about 2 weeks. Was burned out from May and June. But here I just really reinforced with what I learned and started to tackle some of the problems found on here @ GMATclub which is priceless
- Started taking CAT's from GMATprep and MGMAT about once a week or so maybe a little more depending on how I feel. You'll have to excuse the fact that I'm a bit lazy and with Starcraft 2 being released soon, I wasn't in the mood for studying haha.

August -
- Startcraft 2 came out. Spend some time playing that haha.
- Kept doing the CAT's
- Found out I can't break 600 for the life of me.

- Freaking out now :-D
