There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I have been admitted to Duke Fuqua Master of Management Studies with 7% in tuition scholarship and Washington University in St Louis Olin Business School MBA with 40% in tuition scholarship. My goal is to transition into consulting or marketing industry upon graduation. I am a software engineer with 2.5 years of work experience. I am having a hard time deciding between the two. So asking for help in this awesome community. Please suggest your valuable inputs.
Pros of Duke MMS- 1. The Duke Brand is much more renowned. More jobs on the east coast. 2. A less overall expense due to a 1-year course.
Cons of Duke MMS 1. Mostly freshers. so would be unlikely that the class is enriched by fellow students' experiences. 2. 10 month course, less exposure. 3. Lower overall pay upon graduation. 60-75K usd
Pros of WashU MBA 1. A great global immersion program, 1.5 months of traveling and learning. Though I am very afraid of the recent situation due to CoronaVirus Pandemic. The immersion is my primary motivator to apply to OLIN. 2. MBA with greater exposure, 2 year. 3. Higher pay avg 105-115K USD
Cons of WashU MBA 1. Higher expenses even after the scholarship. I do not want to get bogged by debt 3 years after graduation. 2. Most jobs in midwest, and % employed are lower 3 months post-graduation. 3. Lower ranked.
Please help me with your thoughts.
