Only thing was I had to make deposit right away, thats fine, I was leaning towards CMU but Cornell is much close to where my wife works (Westchester county) and so it was a slam dunk

Only thing is that I am not gettign any money from Cornell while CMu was 10K/yr

But I woudl ratehr drive than fly back and forth from pittsburgh to NY.

Also Cornell may be a notch better than CMU

I also heard drom NYU today (I was waitlist first round). I GOT A DING.

So both my WL were settled today

Congratulations. Enjoy your time at I-town.

The confirmation windows for most schools R2s (in Cornell's case R3s)expired around 10 days ago, so it makes sense that the WLs are moving right about now. (The original deadlines were about end of April, but then the schools do send a last warning e-mail to admitted applicants who have not confirmed nor withdrawn and wait an extra 10 days or so, so that's why).

did you have a telephone appointment or did you just decide to call to inquire about your status?
did you submit any waitlist essays?
who did you talk to?
did they have decision for you before you called or was it decided during the telephone call?

In April I sent a nice letter updating my app. I had applied on Dec 7th so in 5 months there were lot of new things: more job responsibility, raise, course in school, took gmat again etc.

Kim Vaughan told me that they will start around May 10th for Wl. ON April 30th I had got offer from Tepper, deadline is May 31st for deposit so I decided to call Johnson. I left message to Jason Atkins first.

Surprising I got a call back, may be my app was on the top in WL list and they were waiting to hear from me I don't know. He said if you can make deposit today I can take app to admissions committee, I also said I have 10K/yr scholarship from CMU. Within 15 minutes to my surprise I got a call from Randall Sawyer : their director saying no aid available, I said fine, I would still take Cornell. May be they sensed i was desperate. half an hour later, I get call from Jason, i am in, I pay my deposit by CC.
