Answer:
C) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement

A) On arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement : Who is being taken? Missing subject :

B) Arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends who met him immediately took him to his speaking engagement :seems like bill's friends arrived at the station:

C) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement : Correct; "he" and "Bill" might not refer to the same person, but doesn't matter:

D) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, he was taken immediately to his speaking engagement : Skipped reference to friends :

E) After arriving at Grand Central Station, he was immediately taken to his speaking engagement : Same as D :

On arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement on Wall Street.

A) On arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement

B) Arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends who met him immediately took him to his speaking engagement

C) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement

D) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, he was taken immediately to his speaking engagement

E) After arriving at Grand Central Station, he was immediately taken to his speaking engagement

please explain

A,B and C. pronoun reference error. He can not point to Bill's Friends and Bill is not mentioned in the sentence.

D and E - There is no referent to he.

All seems wrong, typo?

Not totally convinced that such questions come on GMAT.

But C looks the best.
D and E are little off the mark as there is no mention of friends.

A/B have misplaced modifiers.

C cannot be correct. According to the sentence, he refers to Bill. However, the sentence mentions Bill's friends, not Bill.

Typo in question, or incorrect question.
