Application of Pythagoras theorem.

Sides = 5,12.
base^2 + height^2 = hypotenuse^2.
Therefore, solving => 25+144 = 169. Sqrt(169) = hypotenuse = 13.

How many fewer miles? (5+12)-13 = 4.
