P(No Rain) = .6
P(No Picnic| Rain) = .4*.9
Hence P(Picnic| Rain) = .4*.1
Also P(Picnic| No rain) = .6 * .95
Hence P(rain) = P(Picnic| Rain) + P(Picnic| No rain)
= (.4*.1) + (.6 *.95)
= .61
IMO Ans D

Probability the picnic takes place: 0.60 * 0.95 = 0.57
Case 2: Rain
Probability of rain: 0.40
Probability the picnic is canceled: 0.90
Probability it takes place despite rain: 1 - 0.90 = 0.10
Probability the picnic takes place: 0.40 * 0.10 = 0.04
Total Probability: 0.57 + 0.04 = 0.61
Probability of no rain: 1 - 0.40 = 0.60
Probability the picnic takes place: 0.60 * 0.95 = 0.57
Case 2: Rain
